Ernest Tawiah Nunoo

He brings to the Board a wealth of expertise in financial governance, risk management, and strategic leadership across multiple sectors.

He is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Derby Group of Companies, a diversified business conglomerate with interests spanning automobile engineering and safety services, road and general construction, micro-financing, travel and tours, hospitality, and commercial farming. Under his leadership, the Group has achieved steady growth and operational diversification across Ghana.

Mr. Nunoo also serves as the Country Director of Michael Stevens Consulting International (Ghana Office), a management and financial consulting firm. In this role, he leads the formulation and implementation of business strategies, corporate governance frameworks, and capacity-building programs. As Country Manager, he managed several multinationalsponsored and donor-funded programmes under the auspices of BUSAC, GTZ, and other development partners, strengthening the firm’s presence in Ghana’s consulting space.

Prior to his current roles, Mr. Nunoo had a distinguished banking career spanning over 30 years. He served as Head of Retail Banking at Merchant Bank Ghana Limited (now Universal Merchant Bank), where he spearheaded the partnership and onboarding of MoneyGram and RIA Money Services, two of the world’s leading remittance brands. Under his leadership, the Bank was adjudged Best Bank in Retail Banking and Third Best in Customer Care by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
Earlier in his banking career, he served as Head of Management Information Systems and later Head of Branch and Credit Control at Metropolitan and Allied Bank, as well as Organisation and Methods Officer at Ghana Commercial Bank. His early professional experience also includes working as Accountant and Audit Trainee at Peat Marwick Okoh & Co. (now KPMG), where he built a solid foundation in auditing and financial reporting.

Mr. Nunoo’s commitment to good governance is reflected in his active participation on various corporate boards. He currently serves on the boards of Suhum Rural Bank Limited, Auto Checks Limited, and the Royal Derby Group of Companies, and has previously served on the boards of National Investment Bank Limited and Assurance Savings and Loans Limited.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and Post-Graduate Certifications in Business Operations from Cranfield School of Management, UK, and in Retail Banking from the BAI Graduate School of Retail Banking, University of Wisconsin, USA.
He has also completed the Corporate Governance Certification Programme (Modules I–III) and several capacity-building and professional development courses in finance and management.
