Dr. Abena Nyarkoa Asomaning is an accomplished Development Economist and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) expert currently serving at a prominent development bank where she leads ESG, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. As a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, she taught leadership, corporate governance, international business, and entrepreneurship.
Her extensive career spans key roles in both the public and private sectors, including positions at the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology. In the private sector, she has worked with EY Ghana, Access Bank, and has led consulting projects for Vodafone Foundation, NHIA, Quality Insurance Company Ltd., among others.
For over fourteen years, Dr. Asomaning has been a staunch advocate for women’s economic empowerment and a prolific writer with international publications. She has served on numerous boards including the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (UK), Blue Skies Foundation, KNUST, and the Head of State Award Scheme.
Her contributions have earned her prestigious recognitions including the Points of Light Award from the late Queen of England, acknowledgment by the President of France, and the MTN Heroes of Change award.
She is a passionate speaker on topics relating to leadership, economics, healthcare, and gender development in Africa.
She holds a PhD in Science Economics from the University of Lille (France), an MBA from the University of Lincolnshire (UK), and a BSc in Development Planning from KNUST.
