A Chartered Insurer and Fellow of both the Insurance Institute of Ghana and the West African Insurance Institute, he is widely recognized for his strategic acumen and transformative leadership in Ghana’s insurance industry.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Quality Life Assurance Company (QLAC), where he has led the firm’s recapitalization drive and nationwide expansion through the introduction of innovative microinsurance products and the opening of regional branches in Dambai and Techiman. Under his leadership, the company has recorded consistent premium growth and strengthened its market presence.
Dr. Anafure previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of SIC Life Company Limited from 2009 to 2017, where he spearheaded the company’s turnaround from a loss-making position to sustained profitability. During his tenure, premium income rose from GH¢33.8 million in 2009 to GH¢212.9 million in 2016, representing a remarkable 529% growth. He successfully established key subsidiaries including SIC Life Savings & Loans Ltd and the SIC Life Shopping Mall, the first of its kind in Ghana’s insurance sector.
Before that, he served as Managing Director of CDH Life Insurance Company Ltd and held several leadership roles at SIC Insurance Company Ltd, including Branch Manager, Area Marketing Manager, and Senior Insurance Officer. His tenure at SIC saw him pioneer market development in the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions, leading to significant growth and operational efficiency. Dr. Anafure’s professional journey is marked by excellence, innovation, and a commitment to people-centered leadership. His strategic initiatives have earned him and the institutions he has led numerous awards, including multiple CIMG Insurance Company of the Year accolades, Business Executive Excellence Awards, and Humanity Magazine International Certificates of Honour. Personally, he has been named among the Top Eight Icons of Corporate Ghana (2017) and Best CEO of the Year (2015 & 2016).
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Management (Corporate Governance specialization) from the Swiss Management Centre, Switzerland, an Executive MBA in Finance, and a BSc in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Ghana Business School. His professional qualifications include Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana, and Fellow of the West African Insurance Institute (The Gambia).
Dr. Anafure has served on several boards, including Merchant Bank (now Universal Merchant Bank), Ghana Insurers Association, SIC Life Savings & Loans Ltd, WAICA Governing Council, and the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), where he was Chairman of the Governing Council from 2013 to 2017. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Developing Countries (AIRDEC).
A passionate advocate for insurance development in Africa, Dr. Anafure has represented Ghana at numerous international insurance forums and conferences organized by AIO, WAICA, FAIR, and AIRDEC. His leadership philosophy is anchored on integrity, innovation, and service to humanity.
