His career began in Ghana and soon expanded to the United States, giving him a dual-market perspective he now leverages to enhance operational efficiency, client service delivery and strategic decision-making.
Maxwell is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), USA and a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute (London). He holds a Diploma from the West African Insurance Institute and an MBA in Marketing from Sikkim Manipal University in India. In addition, he holds a professional license as a Financial Advisor (Life) and a Loss Adjuster from the Maryland Insurance Administration. Complementing these core credentials are specialist certificates in Insurance Fraud, Contract Drafting, Xactimate estimating, Workers’ Compensation, Consumer Protection & Ethics and Anti-Money-Laundering, underscoring his commitment to rigorous governance and compliance. Furthermore, Maxwell has undergone extensive insurance training with State Farm and Transamerica Life in the United States, further enriching his technical knowledge.
In response to the increasing complexity of modern business operations, Maxwell has strengthened his expertise in cybersecurity. He holds a CompTIA Security+ certification and a certificate in Cybersecurity Risk Management. With hands-on experience in IT security, he has practical application to real-world scenarios, equipping him to identify and address technology-related exposures.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, he was the Managing Partner of Byll Wych Insurance Brokers in Ghana, where he oversaw the firm’s strategy, operations and market development; successfully establishing it as a competitive and fast-growing player in the brokerage space within its first year of licensing by the National Insurance Commission. His earlier executive positions include Chief Operating Officer of Ascoma Insurance Brokers, Safeguard Insurance Brokers and Serene Insurance Ltd, as well as Brokers’ Manager at Unique Insurance. Internationally, he has held roles as agent, producer and loss-adjuster with Transamerica Life, Metro Loss Adjusters and State Farm in the United States.
Maxwell is an active member of the CPCU Society (Maryland and New York chapters) and volunteers with Junior Achievement in Greater Washington, mentoring future business leaders in ethics and financial literacy.
