This Customer Privacy Notice explains how SIC Insurance PLC (“the Company”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data relating to policyholders, insured persons, claimants, beneficiaries, guarantors, and other individuals whose data is processed in the course of providing non‑life insurance services.
Categories of Personal Data Collected
- Identification and contact data – name, address, phone number, email, national ID/passport.
- Policy and underwriting data – proposal information, risk details, asset/vehicle/property information, prior claims history (where lawful).
- Claims data – claim forms, witness statements, adjuster reports, photographs, invoices, repair estimates, police reports (where applicable).
- Financial data – premium payments, bank/mobile money details (where applicable), settlement details.
- Special personal data (where applicable) – medical reports and health information, biometric identifiers, or other sensitive data needed for claims assessment.

- Quotation, underwriting, and policy issuance/administration.
- Premium collection, reconciliation and customer servicing.
- Claims assessment, validation, investigation and settlement.
- Fraud detection and prevention; risk management and analytics.
- Regulatory compliance, statutory reporting and lawful disclosures.

Lawful Basis
Customer data is processed where necessary to enter into or perform an insurance contract, required by law, or for legitimate interests such as fraud prevention and risk management. Where consent is required (e.g., direct marketing), the Company will obtain and document it.

Customer data may be shared with:
- Reinsurers and claims partners (as necessary).
- Insurance agents/brokers and intermediaries involved in servicing.
- Loss adjusters, investigators, repairers, valuers and other service providers.
- Medical providers (where applicable) and other experts engaged for assessment.
- Regulators, law enforcement and courts where required by law or legal process.
- IT and service vendors (under written contracts with confidentiality and security obligations).
Cross‑Border Transfers
Where data is transferred outside Ghana (e.g., to reinsurers or service providers), the Company will implement safeguards and contractual protections to protect the data consistent with Act 843.
Retention
Customer data is retained in line with the Company’s Data Retention Schedule and is securely deleted/destroyed or anonymised at the end of retention periods.
